2012 Christmas is Not Far Away~ Plan your FAMILY TRADITIONS

Every year as Christmas approaches, I vow to dig out the magazines a bit sooner and make plans to have a NON rushed, TRADITIONAL, family Christmas.

And EVERY YEAR, it comes rushing upon me, usually the week before Halloween as the stores cram the shelves with as much as they can to help us decide what to buy our favorite recipient.

Again, this year I am setting goals, and with the help of a few friends we are vowing to put the CHRIST and the GIVING back into Christmas for all in our family.

I invite you to take a peek at the book on this site~THE 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS GIVING, which is now available for download through XLIBRIS.com

The children are given 12 GIFTS UNDER THE TREE TO GIVE AWAY. They can be small things, like visits to the nursing home, or reading books with a neighbor, or singing carols, or even helping make a pets day a bit warmer.

Some of the text is available here with the illustrations on www.12daysofchristmasgiving.blogspot.com

We hope you will stop in or check the website for upcoming book signings.

We are scheduling now for events so give us a call if you want to bring the message of CHRIST in Christmas to your town or neighborhood.

Blessings and MERRY CHRISTmas!

PUT THE GIVING IN OUR CHRISTMASES

In the next weeks that lead up to the Christmas Season, Crestline Seafood will be collecting items that will be delivered to area charities (EACH WILL HAVE A BUCKET INSIDE THE FRONT DOOR OF CSC), such as coats for kids; items to share with MEALS ON WHEELS (brush, combs, a holiday note or picture by a child, a picture frame wrapped up they can take with the food); PET ITEMS for the local shelters; coloring books and small puzzles to take to CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL and other PEDIATRIC facilities during the week of Christmas for those spending the day away from home; anything small you might want if you are in a NURSING HOME.

We will schedule days to deliver the items and invite any of your teenage children to take part in the delivery.

It takes a village, they say, and we are so blessed to live in our own Crestline Village.
We hope you will take part in ours or start your own! Blessings!

Church of the Highlands and other churches also offer GREAT chances to give. Angel trees, and delivery of Christmas trees door to door in Woodlawn are a few of the fun things you can get your children involved in.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND MANY BLESSINGS!

Girlfriends during the Holidays

Every year I pull out last years stacks of magazines (why throw them out when they have GREAT ideas) and cut through them...pulling out photos of the things I wished I had done LAST year....

cookie recipes, party ideas...

This year, just like we have done for years with our 17 and 14 year old when they were little...
we are having a BUILD A GINGERBREAD HOUSE party.

I asked Shelton is she wanted to have one...again...we did it even up until the 7th grade...
that year taking presents to the Gardners who have adopted over a dozen special needs children.

This year, we are planning on starting over with my phase 3~ and now I have BACKUP..
Shelton and HER girlfriends to help pull off all of the ribbon filled ideas, the gumdrop trees, the
little village that is merely stacks of sticky graham crackers they glue together with icing from a can.
(we shot it through the edge of a ziplock one year to get a bit more official looking) but it all tasted the
same gummy, sticky sweet mess that it always had!

I hope you will build some memories with your LITTLE GIRLFRIENDS this season~

And look for ways to get together with "girlfriend MOMS" to share in the madness~

MANY BLESSINGS!

ITS ALL ABOUT THE STORY.....

COPIES HAVE BEEN ORDERED...
BELOW IS A SNEAK PEEK OF THE ILLUSTRATIONS,
BUT IT'S ALL ABOUT THE STORY.

LAST YEAR, Rick and Bubba shared their views on the MEANING OF THE SEASON being
lost in the shuffle.

Shortly after hearing their debate, I decided to write a story about it.

THIS IS THAT STORY....

"With all of the holiday hustle and bustle,
Christmas at our house had lost its muscle.

Each Christmas Day we'd gather 'round the tree,
and each would exclaim, "WHICH PRESENT IS FOR ME?"

I said, "Let's try to do something this year,
To find the spirit of Christmas that once lived here."

So lined under the Spruce were twelve gifts tied in a bow,
I said, "See if you can pass them on for twelve days in a row."

On the twelth day of Christmas there was a shiny brush and comb,
The children shared it with a sweet lady on their street who lived alone.

On the eleventh day of Christmas they found a small toy,
at a hospital they put a smile on the face of a sick little boy.

On the tenth day of Christmas they found a furry coat.
They took it to a shelter and left it for a stranger with a note.

On the ninth day of Christmas they found a lit up tree,
They took it to the park and left it for everyone to see.

On the eighth day of Christmas they found a box of bouncing balls.
They took them to an animal shelter and played with creatures great and small.

On the seventh day of Christmas they found a deck of cards and book of rhymes.
They took them to a retirement home where they spent their greatest gift of time.

On the sixth day of Christmas they found gloves and a pretty hat.
They shared it with a little girl who had never seen anything as beautiful as that.

On the fifth day of Christmas they found a book with old photos of themselves.
They spent the day pasting pictures in a book for grandma instead of them being lost on the shelf.

On the fourth day of Christmas they baked a basket of bread,
They crumbled it up into pieces and made sure the birds would all be fed.

On the third day of Christmas there was a yummy chocolate cake,
They shared it with the teachers while they were on their lunchroom break.

On the second day of Christmas they found a beautiful bouquet.
They left it on the doorstep for a neighbor, rang the bell and ran away.

On the day before Christmas there was a giant box in red,
With only an ornament of Baby Jesus hung by a golden thread.

They placed it front and center of their very special tree
In honor of the birth that brought Jesus to be.

When I said, "Let's open the presents that were left here for you."
Everyone stood there in silence, not sure what to do.

We had all been wondering who took the Christ out of Christmas but it had been there all along,
It was our own hearts that had missed it and made the holidays all wrong.

Next year we'd be ready, we had something to believe,
In our hearts was the dearest lesson~
It is more fun to give than to receive.

COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS 2010

AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE IS A COUNTDOWN CLOCK.....

AS WE COUNT DOWN TO CHRISTMAS...

LET US ALL REMEMBER THE REASON FOR THE SEASON...

THE BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST.

I HOPE YOU WILL MAKE THIS CHRISTMAS THE ONE WHERE YOU ESTABLISH
A NEW TRADITION OF GIVING WITH YOUR FAMILY

BY BEING A PART OF THE 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS GIVING.

BLESSINGS.
